Did you only use one jelly roll?

That was extremely interesting I must check into making this kind of star quilt once I get the three strip quilts down, the 3 block quilts done. Right now I have three on the go. one paper piecing, two squares, waiting material for the braid quilt and the strip block quilt. Right now what was delivered went to wrong house. the three say delivered but no record of delivery.

Love your Halloween quilt. I'm working on my first quilt and it's a Halloween one!!!! One of my favorite fun days. It's for my granddaughter who also loves Halloween.

They have wrap n zap thats made for microwave and is heat resistant. This is what I use just in case they microwave it. Also heat resistant like pot holders which i also use the wrap n zap batting.

Thank you for showing this, I have a template but I've never used it. One Christmas I was going to use it but I had bought some fabric online in Star Wars prints and when it arrived it felt printed, like a t-shirt with that kind of rubbery feel and then I got totally nervous about using it and never got around to them. Now I'm thinking this will be a nice extra thing to give at Christmas this coming year.

I love cutting & enjoy machine binding. Ive never tried 3" binding, but i will def try it now. Thank you💜

I don't buy Walmart because Walmart in Canada doesn't have fabrics. I am forced to buy either at Temu, (jelly rolls usually) or a quilt shop. I buy 98% at quilt shops, usually buy what is on sale which is something out of style, or older designs. Fabric is 22.00 a meter here in Canada, but I have spent as much as 35.00 a meter. Quilt shops jelly rolls are 60.00 each. So I have to be careful what I buy. I will pay the 22.00 a meter if the quilt is a gift for someone and not for myself.

I have the AccuQuilt die to cut these. Definitely use Cotton batting!!

Also some 100% batting have poly scrims. Make sure the scrims are also 100% cotton.

Cozies are fun to make, but they are not one size fits all, so I just cut a fabric square and use a small bowl to help me round off the corners. I had to make several variations until I discovered what size fabric square I needed to start with and how long to make the darts so that the cozy would fit my dishes. If you use Wrap-No-Zap batting and preshrink it according to package instructions, you can use just one layer of batting. To be safe, I don’t put my cozies in the microwave. You made an engaging video.

Great tutorial, these seem much easier than I thought they’d be. I think I’d leave the opening on one of the darts because I hate it when an opening is on a curve, especially when they have batting attached. I always make a dog’s dinner out of sewing a curve closed. When my mum got her first microwave I remember heating up a takeaway in a metal container and standing watching the arcs and sparks not knowing what to do. Luckily my mum came in and switched it off. That microwave stank for ages after that.

Most threads are not cotton. Be sure to look for cotton thread. Also be sure cotton batting does not have scrim, which is not cotton.

Don't need a template. I made lots of these and gave them as gifts and stocking stuffers. I also made some smaller ones for little hands to put their ice cream bowl in. Can be used for cold or hot cozies. Bonus that they are washable, reusable.

Before microwaving in the kitchen we used a gas or electric oven. I made some cookies that required alcohol so i grabbed my dad’s expensive whiskey. It blew open the oven door and a huge flame shot out and then the door closed and the oven continued working, best cookies ever.

I used a jelly roll, turned out great!!

I walked into the fabric shop to buy 3 yards of material 3 different colors and walked out 11 yards and two 5 by 5 charm packs. What cant I say the fabric was on sale. Who can turn there back on a sale?

How does one choose a backing for your quilt. Should it match the fromt. Does it matter what to use. I get so confused about that. I made a quilt once and a lady made a bad comment about it that now I am shy about choosing the backing 6:01
